An impressive example of Macedonian traditional jewelry, the “Spider” Kiousteki from Naoussa is a masterpiece of handmade wire art. Its design depicts a spider, with the central body and the individual elements forming the “legs” that hug the wearer’s back.
The triangular and rectangular metal motifs, decorated with multi-colored stones and connected with 10mmr thick chains, highlight the refined wire-weaving technique — a method that flourished in Macedonia and was a characteristic element of folk aesthetics and women’s adornment on formal occasions.
This piece of jewelry, with the special shape and symbolism of the spider, represents the skill and imagination of Naoussa craftsmen, combining artistic harmony and cultural heritage.
